Spectacular design and workmanship in this artisan Mexican sterling silver large bracelet with hand carved green Onyx Aztec/Maya masks.
The bracelet is created from sterling silver .925 with eight connected/hinged stations, each one containing a very large, individually carved green ONYX Aztec/Maya masks, some with dangling earrings. (a few of these ball earrings are missing but that does not show and does not deter from the beauty of this antique piece of jewellery).
MEXICAN Sterling Silver, marked 925 and eagle head stamp. Unidentified (yet) monogram of the Taxco silversmith Two marks present, reading:
Round Hecho en Mexico with eagle head stamp on sliding closure part.
Partially visible/legible STERL(ING), two initials one S readable, triangle and TAX(CO) on the other side of the closure.
SIZE: 7.5" length by 1" wide
PROVENANCE: as described, Taxco Mexico
Date/AGE: provenance, style and condition indicate the piece is semi-antique dating from the 1930s
CONDITION: patina overall, with the charming imperfections of an antique piece of jewelry. No scratches or matting on the polished Onyx carvings.
