A beautiful vintage 50s piece with that unmistakable Hollywood diva flair reminding me of the exotic luxury style of the 30's movies.
This 2 in 1, unique Arabic caftan robe combines the cut of the original ethnic pieces but as a short length with a beautiful peach color (flattering for the skin) and a unique combination of fabrics: heavy silk/cotton satin robe underneath which can be worn by itself, AND a floral lace caftan over it. Add to it the high side slits, the finely detailed heavy silk cord braiding used as trims throughout and an enviable LIKE NEW condition and you have a rare garment you will cherish for a long time.
Can be worn as a summer evening dress and lace overcoat, a luxurious house robe, separately as a lace beach cover over a bathing suit...and more. Closes with a multitude of tiny hand braided silk buttons. NO LABELS PRESENT, this is an authentic handmade ETHNIC garment from my personal collection. COLOR: PEACH, THE COLOR IS BEAUTIFULLY VIBRANT, NO FADING ANYWHERE!
STYLE: The ensemble consists of one heavier 100% Egyptian cotton satin caftan with 100% silk braided trim and appliques, "T" shape cut with 3/4 sleeves. Overcoat is made of sparkly lace (possibly synthetic or combination) with the same trim, closing in front with ...hundreds of minuscule silk braided buttons and hoops, a few missing but who can tell? Lace overcoat has side slits to the armpit and front slits to allow movement. Slits are also trimmed in the same tone on tone silk trim. Can also be worn with tights underneath for a more modern look.
CONDITION: REMARKABLE CO0NSIDERING THE AGE. No fading, damage, freying, just a few minuscule silk buttons missing. Minuscule (1mm) pin hole in the layer underneath, lower side, not visible. PERFECTLY CLEAN!
