Beautiful and feminine French Provincial (Provencal) mid length nightgown, custom made in the early 50s as part of bridal trousseau, from heavier silk crepe with heavy floral embroidery, in pale mint color.
The heavy embroidery is concentrated on the placquet in front and at the hem and neckline as scalloped embroidery with tiny embroidered flowers throughout the fabric. Custom made in a traditional style, the nightgown is gathered at the bust and flows in an ample sweep. 3/4 sleeves with elasticized and ruffled hem.
The beautiful pale mint color is complemented delicately by the tone on tone embroidery representing different sizes of floral bouquets with leaves and stems.
Custom made in France, imported from France by yours truly.
AGE: early 1950s
COLOR: as seen in pictures, a pale mint green, with no fading or discoloration, just perfect.
SIZE: it could be a one size fits most, the cut is generous and forgiving to many types of bodies. However, the measurement across the upper back is 16" and the overall length is 44".
CONDITION: impeccable in every way. To play on words, this mint green nightgown is MINT:)
