Ultra feminine and ethereal, with a pastel floral watercolor print on light and airy chiffon, this vintage MISS DIOR kimono peignoir and strappy nightgown set, blends simplicity and high class effortlessly.
A classic universal kimono cut, with straight lines and belt, the peignoir gets fluidity of movement and a spectacular appeal from the semi-sheer, voile fabric, floating elegantly around the body and the artsy floral design with a definite ART DECO flair. The pattern is like a watercolor painting in tones of peachy-antique pink, dilluted teal and splashes of faded rust...VERY interesting color combination with a subtle elegant effect. it is really very beautiful and in immaculate, like new condition.
The matching nightgown is a study in "flapper design", with thin straps, a V front and open back, falling fluidly to a lower waist emphasized by a handmade little rose and uneven hems. Just gorgeous!
MISS DIOR by Christian Dior
Miss Dior line has been issued in 1967 and was first imported into the US in the late 70s. The line
was created as a complementary pret-a-porter to the usual high priced haute couture garments produced by the house of Dior. This peignoir dates from the pre-USA exports, it has been brought from France recently. One of a kind in every way!
AGE: approximately 1970s? The style is ART DECO though.
SIZE: no size marked, will fit a small to medium for a bust measured at 44" for the peignoir and it is 54" long. The nightgown created on bias will probably accomodate a bust of approximately 31-37", possibly a bit more but not recommended as it would alter the shape of the gown. Basically, being a bias cut, the nightgown will take the shape of your body. I measured conservatively.
FABRIC: no tag, it is a very soft to the skin and lightweight voile (chiffon), possibly silk blend but am not sure.
COLORS: beautiful pastels with an unusual combination of antiqued peach, rose, teal and a hard to describe maroon/aubergine watercolored shade. The colors are not strong but subdued, like an antique aquarelle.
CONDITION: pristine. The nightgown has a pull on the front bias, not really visible unless you look carefully in the light. And that is it.
A perfect gift for yourself or any lady with exquisite tastes and a penchant for the Art Deco or a bride to be.
