The absolute VINTAGE PIN-UP 40s revival dress created in the very late 60s as a precursor of the maxi trend of the 70s (see the history below), couture and highly collectible! I personally have never seen a similar one yet...but in movies!
AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING COUTURE PIECE from another Canadian fashion guru...the unmistakable (and very expensive) JOSEPH RIBKOFF.
Dating from the 1969 collection, this dress was then an Avant Garde piece, announcing the 70s when the maxi took over for a few years. The first maxi dress was designed in 1968 by Oscar dela Renta for Elizabeth Arden collection but the trend did not actually catch up until 1972.
At the time, the dela Renta maxi was a novelty very few would dare. Elizabeth Taylor was one of the audacious ones, wearing the white lace dela Renta dress and opening the door for this feminine length.
My beautiful dress on sale right now, was one of the first, from the times very few designers embraced the maxi. It revives the Hollywood in the 40s pin-up look in a modern interpretation: the dress with matching shorts underneath.
The top is a slinky black stretch top high on the neck with very long back zipper, fitted on the body.
The skirt of the dress is a crinkle lightweight cotton combo, in a black and beige tribal African primitive print and is completely open in front through a high slit from the waist. The skirt opens when walking to showcase black shorts...and tanned legs:). No lining, no original belt, any would do if necessary, elasticized waist for comfort.
Wear it with espadrilles and a straw hat...the poster image of a modern day Pin-up girl!
This is an authentic vintage

COLOR: BLACK TOP AND SHORTS, BLACK AND TAUPE/beige SKIRT
FABRIC: no fabric tag but it is easy to care and wear, no iron (stretch and crinkle do not need any special treatment, just wash, hand on hanger and wear) There is an interesting combination of textures here, the sliky top, crinkle cotton shorts and crinkle almost gauzy printed skirt.
SIZE: MARKED AS 8, 36 GERMANY, OR 10 UK, measures 36-40" bust (stretched), 24-28" waist and is 49" long.
CONDITION: perfect vintage condition! Tiny pull, needle size on the top, very hard to detect and not evident when worn, the rest...pristine!
